MEET AMY GALEY

Amy grew up in Union Ridge, here in Alamance County.  Her parents are Dr. Sam and Connie Scott.  She graduated from Western Alamance High School, UNC Chapel Hill, and the University of North Carolina School of Law.  She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, South Carolina, and the District of Columbia.

Concerned about the growth in the region, Amy ran for Alamance County Commissioner and was elected in 2016.  She was Chair of the Alamance County Board of Commissioners from 2017-2020.

In her first term as a North Carolina Senator, Amy helped pass the Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act, which made sure that incarcerated women in labor would not be shackled or chained during delivery.  Also, the Act provided for parenting classes, nutrition, and other important health considerations for pregnant incarcerated women.
